Job Opportunities in the Heddle Lab

PhD students are recruited twice a year and postdoctoral positions arise occasionally. We are always interested in welcoming the most talented and enthusiastic researchers to our team. If you are interested please send a cover letter and CV to us

March 2023: In our lab at MCB, Jagiellonian University, Poland we are recruiting a postdoctoral scientist with some structural biology knowledge to help us build smart biological nanomachines for medical use. See the advert here:https://lnkd.in/gBMJ4ghg

March 2023: Our new Centre for Programmable Biological Matter will open at University of Durham UK in September thanks to very significant funding from the Leverhulme Trust and excellent support from Durham University. We are recruiting a large number of postdoctoral research associates (PDRA). If you are interested in building and understanding biological nanomachines and want to work at the cutting edge of this field of strategic national importance, please apply. All the PDRA positions are listed here.

One-by-one they are:

March 2023: Following the nice work we published on DNA gyrase in NAR (https://academic.oup.com/nar/article/49/3/1581/6090300) and Nature Catalysis (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41929-022-00904-1) we will soon be recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to continue to work on this exciting project in our lab in Krakow. Stay tuned…

February 2023: Want to help us build biological nanomachines? The new Centre for Programmable Biological Matter at University of Durham is now recruiting a Laboratory Manager: https://durham.taleo.net/careersection/du_ext/jobdetail.ftl?job=23000270&tz=GMT%2B00%3A00&tzname=Europe%2FLondon

June 2022: The Bionanoscience and Biochemistry laboratory is recruiting a doctoral student for a fully-funded position with a duration of up to three years. The successful candidate will work on an NCN-funded project entitled “Structural basis of transmissible fluoroquinolone resistance” to uncover the mechanisms of transmissible fluoroquinolone resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. While working on the project, you will use cryo-electron microscopy to study the interactions of fluoroquinolone resistance protein MfpA with Mycobacterial DNA gyrase. The project offers an opportunity to carry out basic molecular biology research (DNA topoisomerase biology) with a real-world impact (antimicrobial drug resistance). You will learn relevant techniques of protein production and structural biology techniques, particularly cryo-EM. You will also have the opportunity to participate in silico drug design, screening and activity testing. More information about the Bionanoscience and Biochemistry laboratory is available under the link here
